There is a lot going on in the living space market. The demand for transformed space and upgraded performance of homes remained very strong. However, the rising costs of materials and contractor costs during 2022 have made affordability an issue. Coupled with a war in Ukraine and high degrees of uncertainty, we continue to be in strange times after 2 years of COVID.
On the Garden Room side of the business, we are revamping our show area, replacing two of our existing show units and replacing a third in 2023. We have released a new design called the Contemporary Range. In addition, we have made detailed changes to the Classic range in order to improve the aesthetic and prepare your Garden Room for longevity in Irish conditions while reducing the maintenance regime. From early 2023, these new Shomeras will be on display in our show area. An example of a development is the introduction of composite cladding in our Garden Rooms. This was driven by a shortage of larch due to the ban on purchasing from Siberia. We think it has worked well; see the photo below.
We are constantly working on the development and improvement of our product and service. For house extensions, we have increased the amount of design input for each customer and every project is reviewed at the start by our Design Team. As the saying goes, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” and the design details and features are getting better while we retain >95% customer satisfaction as verified by ISO annual audit.
Reading back on the 2021 review, I included plans for a project where we did a double-header—a house extension and a Garden room. Below are the plans for this project, as well as some photographs of the completed project.
